Engineered Hardwood

Walk on the Cloud with Shenran’s high-quality engineered hardwood

Shenran’s Engineered wood, like engineered stone, is manmade. Rather than using solid boards, manufacturers glue and bonded together multi-layers of materials; a top veneer or wear layer (a thin slice of hardwood), and a central core made up of additional layers all going in perpendicular directions. The number of layers vary by product from 3 to as many as 10 with 5 to 7 layers most typical.

One of the most well known deterrents from installing hardwood floors is that it is prone to warping and moisture absorption. The way that engineered floors are constructed ensures your investment is for a lifetime by using wood that has controlled moisture content so the floor is stable, durable and will not shrink after installation. The planks of this flooring type also have a built in expansion gap so that should it be exposed to moisture or humidity the floor itself already has room for expanding and contracting, and will be less likely to warp or show damage.

Here are some engineered wood advantages:
• Engineered Wood Can Save You Money (Especially With Exotic Woods )
• Installation Is Often Quicker, Easier, and Cheaper
• Engineered Wood Is More DIY-Friendly

While traditional hardwood floors are beautiful and durable, they can be a problem in areas with a lot of humidity. Buckling and warping over time are common problems, and this can ruin your hardwood. The biggest benefit to an engineered hardwood floor is that it resists warping, buckling and other problems such as shrinking or expanding that are related to moisture and heat, two characteristics of Canada weather.

Shenran’s Engineered hardwood is made of layers of wood and wood pulp that are pressed together under extreme pressure and heat. This process creates a surprisingly durable wood that can handle extreme temperatures. Engineered hardwood flooring comes in a variety of styles and finishes, just like a traditional hardwood floor. While it can’t be professionally sanded down and refinished as many times as solid hardwood, it can be done a few times.
